An exhibition of Irish Volunteer items from 1913 to 1923 will be on display and we will have members on hand to answer any questions from the general public.

The lecture will be given by well known historian & author Tom Toomey, author of the excellent book “The War of Independence in Limerick 1912-1921”.

Entry will be 5 euro per person and 10 euro per family.

We are pleased to announce the dates for this years Cork City Gaol Military Show in Cork City.

The venue is the historic gaol in Cork City, currently a museum. http://www.corkcitygaol.com/
The event will take place within the extensive grounds and perimeter of the gaol.

On display will be military vehicles form all periods up to and beyond WW2.
Reenactors from various armies and eras will be in attendance displaying their uniforms, equipment and arms.
Military traders / dealers will be on site for the collector and all manner of items will be for sale including medals, uniforms, helmets, etc.

The Irish Volunteer Commemorative Organisation http://irishvolunteers.org/ are happy to announce a lecture and display at the The River Lee Hotel http://the-river-lee-hotel-cork.h-rzn.com/ (formerly Jurys Hotel), Western Road, Cork City on Friday, July 8th.

The subject of the lecture will be the Anglo-Irish truce of July 1921. This year marks the 90th anniversary of the agreement and the lecture will be the only event in Ireland thus far to mark the passing of this momentous event in Irish history.

The lecture will be given by Irish Volunteer Commemorative Organisation member Padraig O’Ruairc. Padraig is a well known author and historian and many will be familiar with his books such as “Blood on the Banner” and “The Battle for Limerick City.”

The lecture will take place at 7 pm followed by a question and answer discussion period. The event will close at 9 pm.

An exhibition of Irish Volunteer items from 1913 to 1923 will be on display before the lecture and we will have members on hand to answer any questions from the general public. The room will be open to the public from 5.30 pm.

Entry to the general public will be €5. Tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Space will be limited to 100 persons approximately. The display and lecture will be upstairs on the first floor in the western room.

The next fair is scheduled for Satrurday,April 23, 2011 at the same location, i.e. the Metropole Hotel, MacCurtain Street, Cork City, the fair will be held in the larger Ballroom venue at the Metropole. Opening hours for the public will be 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Traders can set up displays from 8:00 a.m. on the day,
The fair is designed to bring traders of re-enactment materials and equipment, militaria collectables, all other manner of military themed equipment, , military collectors and the public together for a great fair.
So if you sell fabrics, swords, medals, scale models, miniatures, Airsoft or any other militaria then why not come along.

Public Admission: €3.00
Children under 12: free

Traders will pay only 20 euro (minimum flat rate), they will get 2 large 6 foot tables for this.,, any additional tables, 10 euro each..i If you would like to participate, then please contact us for more information. All are most welcome.

MILITARIA AUCTION:
We are also pleased to announce that there will be a Militaria auction on the same day November 6th, at the Metropole Hotel, in the nearby Joyce room, beginning at 4 pm. The Joyce room is a few feet from the ballroom. Munster Militaria fairs will be working with Cork Militaria Auctions
on this auction, and we will be accepting items for auction soon, we will post more information on this shortly.
